The University of Missouri study was actually on the use of photos with an interpretation secondary to pictures of pets.
Our experience with our ASD teens is that pets are pivotal in the right environment. They become the rock with listening skills that eclipse those of humans.
We encourage our patients to explore this avenue of socialization and often find it an excellent means of reducing overall stress, building responsibility and engaging with others in similar circumstance.
